Pianos

The piano is an acoustic stringed instrument created in Italy by Bartolomeo Cristofori about the year 1700, in which the strings are beaten by hammers. It is operated using a keyboard, which is a series of keys that the player touches down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to make the hammers to strike the strings.

Modern acoustic pianos have two primary configurations, the grand piano and the upright piano, with different styles of each. There are further practical and innovation pianos, electric pianos based on electromechanical schemes, electronic pianos that create piano-like tones handling oscillators, and digital pianos utilising digital samples of acoustic piano sounds.
